I need to know everything.
If you know of a good website (not an online wedding planning site) that can tell me everything, that would be great.

Start by investing in a planner. They sell them at Target, Walmart, etc.
They will be a lifesaver. MIne has kept me so organized, it’s unbelievable. I have every single receipt of what I bought in there so I can keep a count on what I’m spending!
It gives you a time line of when everything needs to be done, and what needs to be done!
Start by picking a date, and a venue. That is the most important. You can’t start the planning process without having a date and location! Talk about the budget and what you are willing to pay for your Dream wedding! Try HARD to stick to that! After that, everything else falls into place. Colors, cake tasting, music selection, caterer, guest list, rings, dress shopping, choosing the bridal party, tux shopping, picking out invitations, limo, pictures, centerpieces, and all of the small details!
It is fun, and stressful when it comes down to the wire (where I am now!) Good Luck!

The Wedding Book – The Big Book for Your Big Day by Mindy Weiss is fantastic. You can buy it used from Amazon.com for as little as $3 and it is very comprehensive – it covers everything from the moment you get engaged until the moment you leave for your honeymoon!
It also includes several budget guides, timelines, and templates for you to use to plan various aspects.
I just received it from a friend and I wish I’d had it sooner!

For sure I would use theknot.com, it is a fantastic site. If you register, they have forums, will give you a free wedding website, and have a great budget tool that I really relied a lot on. They have basically every topic covered in their articles like songs to use, etiquette, how to plan a shower, what to wear, how to obtain a marriage license, cultural weddings, destination weddings, all of it, and they also have local vendors available.
The only thing I don’t like about them is they showcase mostly very expensive weddings, and I can’t afford some of the things that they show like giant flower arrangements and designer gowns. So, you have to be a little creative imitating their suggestions if you want to spend a reasonable amount. I also got great ideas off of offbeatbride.com, which isn’t a wedding planning site but has some fun ideas.

I think there are books you can buy to help you organize everything and keep track and plan what you need. I’m sure you can buy them at any book store or wedding shop

Think about a date, budget and then go to a bookstore and purchase a Wedding Planner ($15.00 +/-)
You can complete the budget details and you will have a checklist of everything you need to do over the next 9-12 months (the average time it takes to plan a wedding)

is pretty fantastic with helping me plan my wedding. I have also bought a planning book, but I have barely touched it. Number one thing you need to do (after you say yes
) is pick a date. Then you need to do an informal guest list to find out a rough estimate of people you are thinking of inviting. The reason for this is that when you begin to look at venues (your next step), you know if you can actually fit your party into the room. You also need to figure out a general budget that you can afford. This also helps to narrow down a venue. You also want to order your wedding dress about 9 months before your your date to allow enough time for it to come in and be altered.
